The Home Delivered Meals Program provides a well-balanced nutritional meal daily for frail seniors and the disabled to help maintain their independence.
The majority of the Home Delivered Meal participants are elderly or disabled persons, living alone and affected by poor nutrition, with a variety of incomes based on the type of meal that is delivered.  The participants that are living alone are often homebound and unable to prepare their own meals due to illness or disability and in most cases are unable to meet their dietary needs and are forced to make compromises.  Older persons may eat poorly for many other reasons, ranging from financial difficulties to physical problems.

The following types of meals are available:

Subsidized meals – approval for these are based on an assessment through the Area Agency on Aging Senior Hotline (602) 264-HELP.  The rate structure for the subsidized meals is a suggested donation of $2.50 a meal.

“Meals for you” is a private pay meal service for qualifying individuals 50 years and better, at the cost of $5.50 a meal. East Valley Adult Resources Outreach Staff will conduct a home visit to explain this program and assess other needs at the same time.

Emergency meals “Meals While You Heal” are provided for those older adults (60 years and over) returning home from the hospital, emergency room, rehab center, nursing home, or recovering from an acute illness.  These meals are provided in a 7 pack of assorted meals. The cost is a suggested donation of $2.50 a meal.

From our Freezer to Yours (FOFTY) provides frozen meals for individuals who are 50 years and over.  Meals are delivered in increments of 14 for $3.00 per meal.
