Development Associate
CORPORATE

This position is located in the Development Office and reports to VP of Development & CEO.

Summary:  The Development Associate plays a key role by providing administrative support  to the Development Office and participating in fundraising activities including donor and public relations, business development, event planning for events that are the responsibility of the Development Office, direct mail appeals, social media activities, publication of the organization’s monthly paper, implementation of the health/wellness program i.e. schedule monthly presentations at the three Active Adult Centers and Discovery Point Retirement Community.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and coordinate the marketing, promotion of programs and services offered by EVAR with program staff. Support the implementation of EVAR Strategic Plan, including the Marketing Plan.

2. Brand the organization in written information. Write copy for assigned publications, press releases, feature stories and advertising. Coordinate media coverage. Establish professional relationships with key media staff. Assist the various departments within the organization in their story telling activities about their program(s) and/or service(s).

3. Manage EVAR website. Work with staff to keep information accurate and current; including inputting new information. Assess the effectiveness of the website with respect to usage, type of information accessed, and relevance of information on the website. Process inquiries received per the website. Do the video clips. Assist with the email newsletter.

4. Nurture professional relationships with community senior service providers; business partners with respect to coordinating a working relationship between them and EVAR. Attendance at monthly meetings & events of Spotlight, Human Service Professionals and RAIN or other similar professional groups.

5. Responsible to coordinate an annual Healthy Expo. Includes working with potential vendors, publicity, location logistics, giveaways, entertainment etc.

6. Implement Vital Signs (EVAR health & wellness program) including membership cards, registration process etc. Meet with current and new business partners to schedule health related presentations and newspaper articles at the three (3) Active Adult Centers and Discovery Point Retirement Apts. Assist the Active Adult Center Program Coordinators in the implementation of promotional materials i.e. flyers, placemats of the Program’s presentations. Write monthly and annual program reports. Host annually member events at the Centers.

7. Coordinate the publishing and printing of EVAR monthly newsletter. Includes receiving and editing information from the staff, coordinating activities with newsletter publisher, creating the front page and working with the Postal Service per their publishing regulations.

8. Responsible for the Holiday, Mother’s & Father’s Meal Campaigns and Beat the Heat Campaign i.e. direct mail, donor management, etc. Assist Home Delivered Meals with coordinating volunteer assignments, gift assembly, delivery process and involvement of business partners in various roles per the Holiday Meal Campaign.

9. Represents EVAR at community events i.e. senior expos, health fairs, open houses, etc.

10. Utilize the reports available through Matchmaker (donor software) to develop reports that can be utilized in a variety of activities.

11. Assist the VP of Development with the annual Active Adult Expo that includes business recruitment activities, development of business partnerships, coordinating various marketing opportunities, managing business collateral information at the Active Adult Centers, presentation with Vital Signs, and involvement in Active Adult Center activities/events.

12. Assist the VP of Development in donor recruitment activities and event management i.e. Appreciation Celebration, Day After Event and hosting professional meetings at the
Active Adult Centers.

13. Complete various assignments per membership to Committees i.e. Public Relations Committee.

14. Assist with the writing and reviewing of grants to businesses and foundations.

15. Enhance corporate and business volunteer experiences with the three (3) Active Adult Centers.

16. Assess EVAR for marketing opportunities both ongoing and seasonal i.e. media coverage. Work with staff of the Active Adult Centers to enhance their knowledge of community marketing skills.

17. Conduct preliminary research on prospective funding entities.

18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Word,
  Excel, Publisher, Power Point, InDesign, social media
  and website development
- Ability to work independently. Complete a high level of
  detail and multiple tasks on a day-to-day basis.
- Willingness to work in a team environment. Requiring 
  participatory decision-making and cooperative
  interaction.
- Ability to take initiative to accomplish project tasks as
  needed and to apply skills and knowledge to new
  applications.
- Ability to manage own work assignments and direct
  other employees in performing tasks to complete the
  work.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (occasional evenings
  and weekends).

Office Assistant
ASSISTANCE FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING (AIL)

Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in the duties of the AIL program as needed. This position requires intensive phone and computer work. Part-time 20-25 hours per week. Flexibility regarding work schedule is required.

Reports to:
AIL Project Manager

Functions:
1. Arrange and assign volunteers to clients for on-going services such as grocery shopping, medical transportation, phoning and visiting. 
2. Enter, update and maintain data of clients, home care workers and volunteers to satisfy the required reporting process of AIL, utilizing computer programs such as MS Word, Outlook, and VolSoft.
3. Complete the intake process for new AIL clients.
4. Inform new clients and volunteers of operation guidelines. Mail information and welcome kits; assist with mass mailings as necessary.
5. Assist with client review process.
6. Assist in special programs and events as necessary.
7. Attend and act as recording secretary at advisory board meetings.
8. Function as a member of the AIL team.
9. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
High human relation skills; work oriented, cooperative, self-starter. Able to speak and write well.
Experience working with low income, at-risk older adults.

Requirements;
- Minimum 2 years office experience
- Some college or professional background preferred
- Excellent phone skills; proficiency with MS Office and
  Outlook; ability to learn and implement specific AIL
  computer programming
- Reliable transportation; possession of valid Arizona
  driver’s license and insurance
- Experience in organizing files and keeping accurate
  statistics
- Ability to communicate in a sensitive manner with a
  diverse group of individuals
- Time management experience
- Personal commitment to serve those in need
